We started the day on the road, this time is perfect with almost no traffic and it pulled smooth asphalt. The trip will take about 5h and like almost every day we begin to see different types of animals and birds, today we have surprised a herd of giant scavenging vultures, camels, deer and antelope and we are getting used as there are plenty in Rajasthan, however is still a joy to take the car and be on safari at the same time. The land becomes increasingly flat and dry, with almost no population in the vast majority of miles to go, there are only several villages where life is concentrated, rural people has almost disappeared by the lack of water and unable to grow , the desert begins to make its way into the dry plains of Rajasthan.
We arrived in Jaisalmer for the purpose of spending the night in the dunes of the desert on camels, Lakhan suggested we take accommodation in Jaisalmer the next day and later led us to Khuri village about 45km. The ride was short by a very narrow road but no traffic, and a panoramic view of Jaisalmer Fort.
Khuri is a village of unpaved sandy streets, houses with roofs made of branches land, indigenous people who speak their own language, desert vegetation, animals on the streets, cows, camels, dogs, peacocks and impressive dunes as panorama.
Lakhan leads to the home of acquaintances where they tell us is the camel ride, and give us options if we sleep in the desert surrounded by dunes or at home. Although by some cold nights ago, we decided to spend the night in the desert and that's why we came, we provide all food, beverages and tonight is a group playing popular music around the campfire, we will see ...
Start the cavalcade of the Magi, the feelings are real camel over, thanks to the landscape that surrounds us everywhere with desert vegetation and dunas.Vamos to step and trot across the dunes, is a unique experience. We spent almost 3 hours from Khuri to several more villages we went through, rest in the dunes, we saw the perfect sunset and took us back to the house, and feathered with the jacket on, to provide dinner, a great experience the ride with camels, mine was a little loose, giving the tour a special smell.
When we got home from our host, he was the musical group or band of gypsies trotamúsicos the area, with its sounds and chants, they spoke in their local language so that neither Lakhan knew that it was all about. We share the night with a family in Mumbai that was on vacation. And with food on the table, all village-style, sitting on mats on the floor and around the campfire started the dances and the laughter of incombustible Lakhan. It was a fun evening where Cathrin as it always was "forced" to dance and as you do not give bad the family of Mumbai began to compliment, saying that if the dancer danced better than that if that if potato patatin, by the Bollybood .
Full stomach and we are on the dunes for the night. We have prepared a rustic tent under the sky with hundreds of stars, small roof we have today, AWESOME. After more laughter and magical moments, we will try to sleep. The breeze confuse us all the time, we believe are wild camels, but after a while, we're all asleep, tomorrow when we wake up we will see the sunrise.
*** Goodnight
