RANAKPUR

22/01/10
6 in the morning are very dark on Indian lands, little traffic and we can sleep in the first km. The first pit-stop we do in a roadside stand and we ask the famous pakoras, assorted vegetables in batter and fried in oil, bitter spicy sauce are scrumptious.
We made our way and starts to give Tata the first signs of weakness, we opened the hood and coolant green fluorescent appears out of its container, we have lost. Filling with tap water will not let me very quiet, as indicators of Tata, both the speedometer, as the temperature does not work quite right, Tata will cool as the indicator to 35 º in the shade and the speedometer mark 100kmh when not we or 40kmh, these cars Indian ...
There was no need to do more tinkering and Tata responded well to tap water. The road was quiet until we arrived at Pali, there on the high way 14 towards Mumbai hundreds of trucks waiting for us and stifling heat for 70km. Because it is a good conductor Lakhan go very quiet, but to see the drivers make their own horror movie is.
The road to the left from the 14 to Ranakpur take us over 45km with little traffic, but not smoothly. Passing a village to a character on a motorcycle with his wife and two children he had to ring the phone and was driving 30 KPH directly to us with his family, Lakhan virtually stopped, whistling and shouting their prayers to avoid the inevitable character, not just the thing here, after a few bachecillos Tata will feel the punch, went down to check and the wheel is virtually disintegrated as if it had exploded, another front wheel of the hierrecillos see it, as if we walked knives. We put the spare in the disintegrated and 2km changed the two decks. We are only 8km from Ranakpur, what a relief ...
The Lakhan chosen hotel in the middle of the jungle, this very cool, are giant tents with a fixed bath, one more experience. Lots of parrots, woodpeckers, sounds and different people are our first impressions.
In the rush to leave the hotel and go to see a Jain Temple dedicated to Lord Adinath about 650 years, which is made of white marble and its peculiarity is that it has 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars carved all differently. Silence in the beauty is what comes to mind to describe the feeling, very different from so many temples we visited, one of the most beautiful no doubt.
Lakhan is proposing to go down a path to reach a lake which is supposed to crocodiles. After the hike and asking the poor people living on the shore of the lake in their houses made of branches and leaves, the view we can not afford to see whether or not where they tell us, so we stop looking lizards. A woman he has been talking Lakhan dedicated to agriculture and has a pair of goats invites us to take you home Indian 4x4. After milking the goat, there we are all on the floor with the fire, chai and translations of Lakhan.
It was a tough day, but we enjoy while others survive in very poor condition.
Kumbalgarh morning and jungle road until you reach Udaipur ...
